Financial Accountant
Position Overview
The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong financial controls, and supporting management reporting and compliance requirements.
The role includes ownership of banking processes, reconciliations, journal management, taxation administration, and audit coordination, while contributing to reliable financial reporting and operational efficiency across the organisation.
Key Accountabilities:
Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare, review, and assist with monthly and annual management reporting
- Support shareholder reporting packs and ad-hoc reporting requirements
- Compile budget vs actual analyses and investigate variances
- Interpret financial results and provide insights to support decision-making
- Assist the finance team in ensuring report accuracy, consistency, and alignment with group requirements
- Support audits and reporting-intensive periods as required
Financial Accounting & Controls
- Prepare and review journal entries and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Perform and oversee balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
Banking, Cash Flow & Payments
- Manage cash flow processes, banking activities, and payment administration.
- Process and review local and foreign payments, including payroll-related transactions.
- Maintain banking records, supporting documentation, and compliance with exchange control requirements.
- Monitor cash balances and support effective cash management practices.
Compliance, Audit & Operational Support
- Administer taxation requirements including VAT, PAYE, and statutory submissions.
- Coordinate and support financial and BBBEE audits and regulatory compliance activities.
- Maintain financial documentation and update standard operating procedures where required.
- Collaborate with business units on finance-related matters and support ad-hoc projects.

Advantageous Knowledge and Experience
- Manufacturing or production environment experience
- Experience with Sage 300 (Accpac) and/or Business Central
Requirements & Qualification
- B. Com in Accounting
- Completed Articles
- 3 – 5 years’ accounting experience
• Proficiency in Office 365
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak reporting and audit periods
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a changing systems environment
