Position Purpose

The Maintenance Technical Assistant provides assistance in the department for the maintenance of equipment and the environment required by the Production Team in order to enable the manufacture of our products according to GMP and ISO 9001 standards for our customers.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensures the HVAC system is inspected on a daily basis for conformance and that the necessary actions are taken to correct any deviation from standard. This includes regular maintenance and cleaning as well as record keeping of all work done.
  • Assists with the tasks logged on the maintenance logbook.
  • Assists the team in urgent maintenance matters to ensure that product can be made in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all cold rooms, air handling and air conditioning units.
  • Assists with interchangeable duties throughout Roodeplaat’s site as required and only if approved by the Production Manager.
  • Ensure all schedules work during a maintenance week are performed and documented.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12
Knowledge / Experience:
  • Equipment and tools, for example a grinder
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of air conditioners
  • Knowledge of OHSA
  • Knowledge of handling hazardous materials
  • Basic electrical knowledge
Skills / Attributes / Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a Team
  • Should be able to use and operate equipment required for maintenance
  • Technical knowledge
  • Sound judgement
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Able to withstand long hours working on one’s feet
  • Due to the nature of the position, a full medical will be done to ensure medical fitness for the position
