Deltamune’s veterinary vaccine range includes registered and autogenous vaccines for poultry, ruminants and other species. Position Purpose

This position will be responsible for the formulation of vaccine and manufacturing of biological products, coordinating the labelling and packaging team and all technical aspects of the formulation plant to ensure  our products and services meet and exceed customer expectations with adherence to deadlines.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manufacturing and bottling of vaccines, biological products and subcontracted products as per standard operating procedures and in accordance to specifications.
  • Ensure that production records are completed and submitted timeously. This includes the preparation,
  • completion and review of batch records.
  • Ensure manufacturing is compliant with SOP’s and according to cGMP and ISO 9000 requirements.
  • Ensure that plant, equipment and raw materials are ready for the needs of day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure adequate supply of raw materials through effective collaboration with the procurement department.
  • Ensure that the formulation plants and supporting equipment are always monitored, maintained, serviced
  • and comply with legal and safety requirements.
  • Maintain plant cleaning and hygiene management for your area according to required standards.
  • Assist with maintaining the minimal critical spares list.
  • Maintaining IMTE’s within the scope of operations.
  • Ensure efficiency in department and limit waste to the required standards.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, construction and commissioning of new equipment and processes as
  • required by the QA department.
  • Assist with maintenance of equipment and calibration of instruments as directed.
  • Dispose of waste in accordance with OHSA.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall business objectives when required.
  • Ensure individual and team practices are compliant with OHSA requirements and that safety equipment such as hearing aids, safety goggles etc. are always worn.
  • Ensure that medical waste is effectively managed and documented.
  • Ensure that safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality systems in various departments.
  • Ensure individual and team tasks and policies are compliant with cGMP processes, practices and documentation requirements as well as the Deltamune quality management system.
  • Write, review and update all SOP’s for the department and ensure that current SOP’s are up to date.
  • Ensure that the team receives training on SOP’s and that training files are maintained.
  • Follow TQMS requirements and timeously perform investigations as needed.
  • Assist with determining and motivating staff training requirements.
  • Assist with compiling a skills development plan and scheduling the relevant training.
  • Provide training where needed.

Knowledge / Experience:
  • At least 3 years’ experience working as a technologist in a production environment
  • Previous experience managing staff
  • Knowledge of clean room practices
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing equipment

  • Experience of steam-in-place, clean -in-place and labelling equipment highly advantageous
